Notes From the Past Week

Greetings I-TEC Family

We have had a busy week!!!
Monday afternoon here at HAU, as you all know, the containers arrived.  Praise God!!  There was a bit of a delay as the original crane that was hired to unload the containers did not think he could do it after all!?!!  So plan B called for two smaller cranes to the job.  After a lot of planning they got to it, but it was getting late.  It was dark by the time both containers were safe on the ground!

Tuesday we started early and unpacked both of the containers while another crew broke  down a foundation wall that needed to come down so the cranes could do the job.  It took a lot of hands to unload the power pack all the solar modules from the other container.  But we had them both empty by lunch time and the cranes were ready and waiting to maneuver them into place.  Both containers were safely set in their permanent place by 2:00pm our time.  All the workers got to go home early since so much work was done in such a short time!!

Wednesday the workers started to rebuild the foundation and the wall that was removed so the containers could be placed.  Another crew started carrying and spreading gravel throughout the solar field and leveling the ground.  Brian, Gabe, and I started marking the substructure to start setting arrays the next day.

Thursday more gravel was spread.  From the pictures in the last post, you can see this is done by hand carrying bags of gravel!!  Everyone works together and the job gets done!  The builders worked on reconstructing the wall while we worked on setting the outside rails on all the arrays.  We had the rails squared and tightened by the end of the day.  We finished our day setting the rail brackets throughout the arrays to get a jump on the next day.
Today we started setting the rails.  Brian and Gabe had two arrays finished by mid morning and then we jumped on setting modules.  We have a good system going and are moving along very smoothly.

Monday the roof on the PowerPac will start going up and security wire around the array will be installed.  Regarding security, HAU has a security team and guards patrolling.  We have had no issues at all with security.  All the roofing material is on site and is being painted as I type.  The welders here who will be doing the work are excited to start.  They have pictures and instructions straight from Kibuye!!  Things are moving along and we are excited for the next team to arrive.  Please continue to keep us in prayer and if anyone has any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to let us know.
See you all soon.

It's a Wrap

It is now Tuesday, November 5, and everyone who was at the I-TEC HAU project is now at home safely.  We praise the Lord for on-time (mostly)...
