Monday was a Pretty Good Day

We tested the contactor and found it to be as we expected, so figured on reinstalling it sometime during the day.  Some of the men installed wiring for lights and outlets in both the generator building and the electric building.  Some of the men worked on the circuit throughout the complex that will shut off air conditioning units when the batteries get low.  This will actually be the big project for this week.  We had struggled with no Internet in the PowerPac on Sunday only to discover that the outlets powering the two network switches in the line from the University had issues with their wiring.  Once these issues were fixed we were able to successfully communicate with Matt, back in Pennsylvania.  At this point we began to go through the reconfiguration process for the system.  We learned much about the behavior of the batteries as they relate to the system.  Timing is critical, but once we figured things out we were able to successfully reconfigure.

The Burundian Air Conditioning technicians installed the four air conditioners that are designed to cool both the PowerPac and the Battery Container.  By the end of the day both containers were cool.  By the end of the day we also had the contactor back in the system and it was working as designed.

We are not finished configuring, and today will likely be as long a day as yesterday in that we were working through the complicated process well into the evening.  We are praying that things will go smoothly.  The technician from the generator supplier in Uganda showed up late in the afternoon.  He will be commissioning the new generator this week, hopefully today.  It needs the exhaust system completed and a full tank of fuel to start up.  We are excited to see it in operation and once this component is included in the system, we hope to completely power the university from the sun.  Days have been cloudy here and it has rained every day.  But there is enough sun to still charge the batteries, we feel.  Certainly, the generator/incoming power from Burundi will take up the slack.  So we are soon ready to get to it.  Please pray with us that the system can be the answer to the needs here.  All day, every day, we rub shoulders with the many, many students here.  A lot of good things are happening here at this university , and God is certainly at work expanding His kingdom.  May He be praised!

It's a Wrap

It is now Tuesday, November 5, and everyone who was at the I-TEC HAU project is now at home safely.  We praise the Lord for on-time (mostly)...
