Thursday, Oct. 17

Today, as we have each day, we started our day with a devotional that set the tone for the day.  Our team has been cohesive and enjoying our time working together.  Despite having no water in some of our homes, laundry delays, and intermittent electricity, There has been no complaining as we “roll” with the issues we face.  Reality is, we’re here for a defined period of time but the Burundians deal with these issues every day.

We found work inside the PowerPac, electrical room, generator room, classrooms, or tool room to continue being productive.  We’re inching closer to starting up the system.

We had our challenges today as there were several torrential downpours.
Four of the six solar arrays are ready for service.  We’re a little short of wire to finish the final two arrays.  It will arrive with Matt on Sunday.  We’ll finish wiring those two arrays on Monday.  The “Tripowers” (solar inverters) where installed today and are almost ready to be placed in service.  The batteries are ready for service.  Tomorrow we’ll pull our final section of wire (from the generator to the PowerPac).  We plan to interrupt service on campus Saturday to move it onto our new equipment.

Flexibility is critical.  Ed took a few minutes to fix a sewing machine for Lauren.

Five Minutes before this picture was taken this ditch was running full of water.
How do they keep from getting hurt?

During one of our torrential downpours today this was a popular
work location (its under a canopy)!

This picture is in honor of Miguel & family who left HAU yesterday for a couple
days of rest then will be returning to the USA.
A couple of us got stuck across the street at the Van Norman Clinic during a major downpour.

And when it is raining, the PowerPac is a good place to find Burundian workers...

Mike and Ed hooking up a panel in the Electric Room, which will serve the Van Norman Clinic.

A group of happy, smiling friends.

Conduits from the PowerPac to the Electric Building are a bit above ground.  Maybe an elevated enclosure will be built for this?

It's a Wrap

It is now Tuesday, November 5, and everyone who was at the I-TEC HAU project is now at home safely.  We praise the Lord for on-time (mostly)...
