Hope Africa University is in our Sights!

It is August 2019 and the project at HAU is about to begin!  In a few days the first members of our team will be leaving for Burundi to begin the layout of the new Solar Field that will be the main power source for the University.  Here is just a bit of information on the University from the Internet.  Our last major project was at the Kibuye Hospital, in Burundi.  The Kibuye Hospital is a branch of Hope Africa University.  The Solar Power addition to Kibuye has been very successful and so the University itself reached out to I-TEC to begin the process of duplicating much of what was done at Kibuye right here in the Capital City of Bujumbura, at the University Headquarters.
Hope Africa University is the largest and fastest growing private university in Burundi with an enrollment of 1,700 students. Hope Africa is a Christian liberal arts university in Bujumbura, Burundi and it is presided by Sylvain Nzohabonayo. The university was established in 2000 with support of the Free Methodist Church in Karen, Kenya. It relocated to Bujumbura in December 2003. At that time it had 110 students. It is considered Burundi's best private university and receives the most applicants per year. Many of Burundi's religious, political and business leaders attend, including Denise Nkurunziza, wife of Burundi President Pierre Nkurunziza.

Hope Africa University also has a branch near another of our Solar PowerPac projects at the Sister Connection site.  Sister Connection's Solar Power is also powering the branch's electrical needs.

The video referenced here is in French.  If you understand French you will be able to gain much information about what HAU is all about.  Otherwise the photos will speak for themselves.  (If you look closely you will see the Sister Connection Solar Project and also some of the project at Kibuye.)

As the team begins their journey, we will begin to update you on progress.  Please subscribe to the blog so you can see updates and new posts as they happen.  The first few weeks there may be few posts.  The team will expand immensely in September as our equipment arrives on site at the University around the middle of September.  Then the assembly team will begin to arrive the first week of October.  We will have team members from all across the United States and Canada.  We are excited to see what God will do with this University, as they begin to have steady and reliable power that will be supplied by the SUN.  Then we will continue to see the power supplied by the SON.  Please consider following along.

It's a Wrap

It is now Tuesday, November 5, and everyone who was at the I-TEC HAU project is now at home safely.  We praise the Lord for on-time (mostly)...
