Friday night at a campfire hosted by Miguel & Nora,
friends gathered around their family and prayed. They along with Michael arrived safely last
night at Hope Africa University (HAU) in Bujumbura, the capitol city of
Burundi, east Africa. They are now six
hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time.
This morning HAU provided breakfast for them at the
cafeteria. Now they are getting oriented
to the work ahead. Michael will be
considering the area that HAU prepped to house the solar array, shade factors,
orientation to the sun, and many other technical details. Miguel will meet the men he will be working
with over the next two months to build and secure the structure that will house
over 350 solar panels. Nora will set up
the kitchen in the Cookie House, preparing and equipping it to feed their team
as well as the next several waves of teams.
She will also find her way to the grocery store and market to buy
food. The food we shipped in the
container will not arrive for another four weeks. While in Burundi, in addition to providing
meals and support for the teams, she must also keep up with home-schooling her
daughters.
Pray
daily for this team's health as they adjust to new water, food, the heat, and humidity.
Pray
for their relationships to be Christ centered with each other and all the folks
at HAU.
Pray
for strength for the long days from sun to sun.
Most of all, pray that they know God is working with them, standing
alongside them, and providing the strength, wisdom, and grace that they each
need.
The pictures below are the area that HAU repurposed and
fenced in to house the large solar array.
As you can see, HAU has been working hard to prepare for their new
system! The final picture is Gaspard,
the HAU engineer. Pray for Gaspard, for
understanding and wisdom despite language barriers.
